This is Salou's popular "Capellans" Beach. Note this image is copyright of Marketing Mertek s.l. and may not be reproduced without permission.
What you are seeing: You're looking West from the East end of Salou. In the foreground, Capellans beach. The word refers to the Bishops of Tarragona whose land this once was. In the centre are the walls of the 17th century fort or "fortin". An apartment block was built on the ruined fort in the 1970's. The gate of the old fort can still be seen on the West side and you can walk around on the new Beach Walkway. There are two small headlands beyond which you can see the main beach of Salou, Platja Llevant (East Beach) with the palm lined promenade behind. The Sports Port lies beyond that and the West beach "Platja Ponent". On clear days the mountains behind can be seen. We move the camera to take in nice sunsets and interesting activities offshore. Spring is nearly here! While visiting Salou don't miss it's best restaurant and drinking place. The Gunness Tavern is #1 on Trip Adviser and just 100 metres to the right of Capellans beach.
